    Polysomnography Technician- 3rd shift- PRN 


    Join the hospital trusted by Chicago’s Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as a Polysomnography Technician. 


    A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center  sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. A sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff. The sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology. Under the direction of the Director of Neurological Diagnostics, or Clinical Supervisor of Neurophysiology, performs all types of Polysomnography including routine PSGs, CPAPs, MSLTs, and technical data analysis of each test.


    Required Qualifications;

    • Preferably an Associate/Bachelor of Arts or Associate/Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent, completed or in progress.
    • Registered EEG Technologist, Registered Evoked Potential Technologist or Registered Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist, or Registered Polysomnography Technologist, or planning on completing registration in the near future. Upon completion of requirements to receive Registered status, the employee’s professional title will be changed to Polysomnography Technologist.                                                         


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Preferred one year of healthcare experience in a related field, i.e., EEG, EP, EMG, Sleep, IOM. 

    Physical/Position Demands: 

    • Must possess the required ability/energy to stand, walk, and lift regularly.
    • Must be able to move large, bulky equipment throughout the hospital. 
    • Must be able to routinely assist patients by 1) positioning of patients on a bed, 2) assisting from cart/wheelchair to bed, etc.
