    Urgent Aid Tech- Flossmoor, Part-Time, Rotating, 0.8 FTE 

     

    Join the hospital trusted by Chicago’s Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as a Urgent Aid Tech.

     

    Under the leadership of the Emergency Department Director, Manager and Charge Nurses, the ED Technician performs duties in collaboration with other disciplines who service the Emergency Department patient, i.e. Registration, Radiology, Security, Admitting, etc. The ED Technician utilizes interactive processes which will contribute to exceeding the expectation of patients, physicians, families or significant others in the provision of high quality, cost effective care, treatments and service. Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific competencies. 

     

    Under the direction of the RN:

    • Wound care and dressings using aseptic technique. 
    • Applies and instructs on ambulation assistance devices. 
    • Applies simple oxygen devices and changes oxygen appliances.
    • Assists MD/RN with patient procedures. Applies/removes non-invasive cardio-respiratory monitor. 
    • Maintains patient airway and assists ventilation via bag-valve-mask device (BVM). Assists with patient position, transporting, dressing/undressing, and ADLs. 
    • Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment. 
    • Follows isolation and infection control protocols. 
    • Obtains, documents and reports to RN subjective and objective patient data. Immediately notifies MD/RN of life threatening or crisis situation. 
    • Obtains vital signs and pulse oximetry.
    • Trained to complete Quick Registration of patients. 
    • Transportation of patients. Stocking of supplies, linen and equipment. 
    • Completes area checklists as designated. 
    • Cleaning of patient care equipment and department areas. 
    • Cross-trained to function in unit secretary role through entering of orders, coordinating physician phone calls, etc.

    Required Skills

    • ACLS,PALS, and EMT-P Required
