Lead Sterile Processing Tech
Join the hospital trusted by Chicago’s Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as a Lead Sterile Proccesing Tech.
Under the supervision of the Director and Supervisor, the Sterile Processing Lead Technician (SPD Lead Tech) is responsible for all the duties relating to processing of sterile supplies, preparation of instruments and the decontamination of patient related equipment. General functions include but are not limited to coordination of workflow and work assignments, maintenance of work schedule, allocation of resources to meet primary responsibilities of the SPD department, monitoring sterilizers and maintenance of sterilization records, issuing surgical supplies and instrumentation, maintaining inventory and PAR level data. General department responsibilities are: issuance of medical supplies and surgical equipment and instruments, maintenance of inventory levels and patient case carts for the OR, maintains responsibility for attendance and punctuality, promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships and maintaining professional conduct at all times.
Education: Certification in Sterile Processing preferred, completion of certification within 12 months of hiring required. High school diploma required. Three (3) years of experience in same or closely related SPD Technician position required. Good working knowledge or medical supplies and equipment in Sterile Processing area. Demonstrable ability to operate in the role of SPD Technician.
The physical demand ranges from constant sedentary work with a certain amount of sitting, walking and standing to occasional light work involving lifting up to and in excess of 20 pounds of force and/or excess of 100 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Office work requires minimal computer usage for data entry and printer use.
