Job Description

Join Ingalls Memorial Care as a field Certified Nursing Assistant for the Ingalls Home Care Department.

 

The CNA performs a variety of duties to care for and comfort clients/patients. The CNA works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The HHA performs nursing procedures contributing to the treatment and rehabilitation of clients.

The CNA participates in caring for clients by performing nursing procedures for which his/her training has provided the necessary skills, records care 95 (including observations and treatments), assists in meeting psychosocial, safety and physical comfort needs of clients within the scope of training, and complies with institution’s policies ensuring the equipment, supplies and clients are safeguarded.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides care in accordance with a written Care Plan Assignment prepared by a Registered Nurse.
  • Reports pertinent observations and significant changes in the client’s conduct/behavior to nurse responsible for the client / Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assists with personal hygiene, including bathing.
  • Provides oral care.
  • Provides skin care including backrubs, foot care, etc.
  • Provides morning and/or evening care.
  • Feeds clients or assists with oral intake.
  • Turns and repositions clients.
  • Makes beds: occupied and unoccupied.
  • Measures and records I & O.
  • Offers bedpans and urinals.
  • Takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration.
  • Assists clients in ambulating.
  • Keeps client’s area clean and safe.
  • Ensures client rights and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Corporate Compliance and adheres to agency Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Commits to one hundred (100%) patient and customer satisfaction by always exhibiting a courteous and helpful manner during interactions with others, including patients, families, visitors, physicians, students, and co-workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be active on the IDPH registry for Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Must have at least one year of experience.
  • Able to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and impaired.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance and has the availability of personal and dependable mode(s) of transportation to conduct services as required.

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Experience in home care preferred.
